Overview
This policy explains how ClearPass Technologies LLC (“ClearPass,” “we,” or “us”) processes information when you use ScamZero: Scam Detector. ScamZero helps you examine possible scam warning signs in a screenshot, message, URL, or QR code. ScamZero can miss scams and does not certify that content, a sender, a website, or a transaction is safe.
Information you choose to submit
When you request a check, ScamZero processes the content you select or enter. Depending on the feature, this may include a resized screenshot, pasted message, URL, decoded QR content, visible text, domain names, phone numbers, email addresses, payment language, sender claims, and other information contained in the submitted material. A submission may incidentally contain personal, financial, or sensitive information.
Image preparation and live-camera QR decoding occur on the device. Selected screenshots are resized and stripped of unnecessary metadata before analysis.
App, usage, and subscription information
ScamZero creates a random installation identifier and secret to enforce the free-check allowance, support deletion, and map subscription access without requiring a named account. We process app version, platform, free-check count, analytics preference, and subscription entitlement status.
If you enable privacy-safe analytics, ScamZero records only allowlisted event names, feature type, coarse outcome, duration bucket, app version, and timestamp. Analytics does not include screenshots, messages, extracted text, complete URLs, domains, phone numbers, email addresses, QR content, reports, or model output.
How information is used
We use submitted content to perform the check you request, identify and explain possible warning signs, inspect URLs and domain registration information, provide practical next steps, enforce usage limits, troubleshoot failures, protect the service, verify ScamZero Pro access, and honor deletion requests.
Service providers
ClearPass uses service providers for application hosting and databases, request-scoped AI analysis, Apple App Store distribution and payments, RevenueCat subscription entitlement management, domain registration lookups, and configured malicious-URL reputation checks. Each provider processes information for its assigned function under its own applicable terms. We do not sell personal information and do not use submitted scan content for third-party advertising.
Storage and retention
ScamZero’s application database does not store raw screenshots, pasted messages, complete submitted URLs, extracted text, decoded QR content, or generated reports. Submitted content is used transiently to complete the requested analysis and may be processed in request logs or provider systems subject to security and operational retention controls.
The database stores a one-way hash of the installation secret, free usage count, app version and platform, analytics preference, timestamps, and optional allowlisted analytics events. Redacted history is stored locally on your device and can be deleted one item at a time or all at once.
Your choices and deletion
You can turn privacy-safe analytics off, delete local history, or choose Delete Account & Data in Settings. That action requests deletion of the pseudonymous installation profile and associated analytics events, then removes local history, preferences, and the secure installation credential.
Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase and transaction records under their legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and platform obligations. Deleting ScamZero data does not cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions must be managed through your Apple Account settings.
Security
ScamZero uses device secure storage, one-way secret hashing, timing-safe credential comparison, input validation, strict URL and network controls, server-only provider credentials, HTTPS, and content-free analytics. No transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
ScamZero is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18 or offered in the App Store Kids Category. ClearPass does not knowingly solicit a child’s name, date of birth, school, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifier through ScamZero.
Legal rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a portable copy of certain personal information. Because ScamZero does not maintain a conventional named account, we may request limited information to verify that a request relates to a particular installation.
Changes
We may update this policy as ScamZero, its providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected in this page and, where required, in App Store disclosures.
